The development of Romania’s energy independence is one of the priorities of the national security Strategy. In addition, ensuring a consistent fraction of energy from renewable sources is key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the EU.

Microhydropower plants on medium and small rivers have proven to be some of the most potent ways of hardening renewable energy resources, given the country’s rich hydrographical network.

However, the delicate issue consisted in reducing the environmental impact of these water abstracts and integrating microhydropower plants into the natural environment. For the second aspect directly related to architecture, our proposals to tire buildings with gabions made of stone and/or wood-panelled trawlers were appreciated by multiple territorial environmental protection agencies and were Implemented in a number of private hydro-energy-furnishing investments in 10 counties of the country.
